In the late fifties, Mona Vale Junior Sports Club was formed. That particular club was to foster rugby league, cricket and women's basketball ( now known as netball ). Even at that early stage, league was strong in the area and at the risk of leaving someone out, the records located suggest the early success was primarily due to the following dedicated volunteers: Gordon and Jeanette Melville; Bob and Jane Johnston; Lindsay Small; Alan Wilson; Harold Clarke and Gordon Spittles.

In 1964, Mona Vale Junior Sports Club was incorporated with Pittwater R.S.L. which became Pittwater R.S.L. Youth Club. The move resulted in seven junior teams being entered into the Manly Warringah Competition. The next few years were patchy, with the number of teams reducing. Then, early in 1967, the president of the youth club announced there would be no rugby league teams. Against all odds, an under 19 ("C" grade ) team took to the field and reached the finals on August 13th that year.

Support of the Rugby League Sub Club was waning, and in the late 60's Reg Hansel embarked on a mission to rebuild the club. Seventeen under 13's ("H" grade players were acquired, wearing bottle green jerseys with a white vee, and were offered $10.00 to the best and fairest player of the year. (No salary cap then.) In 1971 an "F" grade played but no teams were then fielded until 1978. It was at this stage the club was reformed and the inaugural meeting of Pittwater R.S.L. Rugby League Football Club was held on January 30th, 1978.

Office bearers from that formation meeting were: President - Norm Monico; Secretary - Dave Hastings; Treasurer - Peter Ecchari; Committee - Max Clarke, John Spittles, Peter Alsop, Bill Tricket and Tex Ritter.

Over the next few years the club entered the "A" grade competition and by the early 80's fielded five teams. The Pittwater club received a mention in Zom's Manly Daily column in 1982 as they had eight sides from mini to "A" grade. This was credited to the hard work by Norm Monico (President), Kevin "Casey" Jones (Secretary) and their committed office bearers over the previous three years.

During the 1987 season it became apparent that Pittwater R.S.L. was to reduce its support for Rugby League and concentrate on soccer. It was the decided to move out from under the R.S.L.'s umbrella. At the AGM of that year the club changed it's name to Mona Vale Junior Rugby League Football Club and it's colours from bottle green and white to the new red, white and blue.

Over the recent years the club has had it's ups and downs in the number of teams we have fielded, and has seen a higher concentration on min teams. However in 2000 due to a committed committee and a group of enthusiastic coaches Mona Vale once again fielded an "A" and "A" reserve team in the Manly Warringah competition.

Mona Vale broke some new ground in season 2001. We entered 6 junior teams in the Manly Warringah competition with 8's and 14's making it to the semi finals and the under 7's and 9's played in the grand finals. The "A" grade team entered into the North Sydney competition which enabled us to concentrate on one team without the associated player shortage and cost of having an "A" and "A" reserve team. The "A" grade made it to the semi finals and Mr Cliffe Palu was selected as "A" grade best and fairest runner up in the North Sydney competition.
